On-site assistance on North Sea platform

Demonstrating our strong commitment to customer service, Holland-Controls Services UK was able to mobilise at very short notice to provide on-site support to an important customer on a North Sea platform in the UK sector. The site operates two Rolls-Royce RB211 (SGT-A35) power generation units.

The service team was called in to troubleshoot an issue with GT1 failing to load. See picture 1 and the diagram. As part of the investigation, the team inspected the UCP and GCP wiring and control relays, and checked the controllers for the fuel metering valves. It was found that GT1 was reaching its acceleration limit during the loading sequence.

The root cause was identified as a disconnected pressure pipe between pressure transmitter 63GG30 and the GG HP compressor. Once the pipe was reconnected, GT1 was successfully restarted without further issues. See picture 2.
